The LaPorte County Draft Horse Association hosted its 2019 Spring Plow Day on Sunday, May 5 at the field near the historical Door Prairie round barn in LaPorte. This iconic setting provided a beautiful backdrop on a bright and warm day. Several club members brought their teams and plows to turn the soil. Visitors from Ohio also came with mules and plowed three abreast. Many  visitors enjoyed interacting with the participants and learning more about the draft breed and plowing. Wagon rides were provided by the Dreessen Family.

 

Many thanks go to event organizers Larry Smith and Bob Goethals, and everyone else who participated and assisted. The food tent was popular, and special thanks to Shelley Kruse and her group their hard work that day. The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum adjacent to the field was open during the event, and we look forward to future collaborations. And finally, gratitude is extended to Dr. Peter Kesling for allowing our club to use this field for our event.
